This site is less about having all the answers and more about documenting experiments, testing ideas, and gradually building a more flexible way to work and live with the goal of practical freedom through intentional systems.

My work from home (WFH) journey began during the onset of COVID. One day, the revolving office doors ceased to spin, and I had to set up shop in a small two bedroom apartment. Daycares closed too, and schools went remote which meant having three kids in our small living space.

I ended up squeezing a desk and chair in the only quiet-ish space in our home – the bedroom closet – and worked from a laptop and external monitor out of that tiny space for months. Once we found out WFH was here to stay, we decided it was time for a change.

We relocated to a bit of a larger home (large enough to not have to work in a closet), and I slowly began upgrading my WFH area to maximize comfort, productivity, and overall enjoyment of my surroundings. I’m a bit OCD when it comes to choosing gear (i.e., lighting, monitor arms, custom mechanical silent keyboard, headset, etc.), and you can check out some of my gear reviews here. I’m still working towards achieving my ultimate WFH wish list – it’ll forever be a work-in-progress – but once we (and COVID) got settled in, it was time to set our sites on something larger: everything outside of my WFH office, including the great outdoors!

Between outdoor adventures with the kids and taking care of aging family members (plus the occasional get together with more family and friends), I’ve been on the road more than ever. I’ve also been working on the road [figuratively speaking (mostly)] more often and have been testing and refining my work from anywhere (WFA?) setup, including.

You can view my latest WFA setup here.

Our vehicle setup is growing into a hybrid overland-ish family vehicle/mobile office where I can, in theory, work from anywhere.
